Andrew Nicholson arrives at leg 1 of the Event Rider Masters at the Dodson & Horrell Chatsworth International Horse Trials fresh from his Badminton Horse Trials win last Sunday. His ride this weekend is Swallow Springs, is a proven swift cross-country performer which is key at Chatsworth with the cross-country optimum time renowned as difficult to achieve.

Commenting ahead of Leg 1 Andrew said:

“I am really looking forward to being part of ERM this weekend. Swallow Springs is a very nice young horse and delivered a strong third at Blenheim in September at the same level. In addition to him hopefully having a live chance, it will be good for him to experience the big atmosphere that the ERM format creates”.

The 2016 ERM Champion Oliver Townend (GBR) rides Note Worthy and is looking to make his mark early in the series but the favourites for the competition have to be Thomas Carlile and the grey stallion Upsilon. The combination won the series finale at Blenheim last year and have finished first or second in eight of their eleven international starts proving to be superb performers across all three phases.

One thing is for certain, with a field of forty of the World’s best riders competing for £50,000, Leg 1 of the 2017 ERM series is set to be a scorcher!
