Germany’s Ingrid Klimke maintained her overnight dressage lead following the showjumpng phase at Leg 2 of the Event Rider Masters at Internationales Wiesbadener PfingstTurnier in Germany this morning.  Running in reverse order of merit Ingrid was last to go riding SAP Escada FRH. Althoughthe pair knocked down the first part of the double accumulating four jumping penalties, they will start this afternoons cross country phase in first place on a score of 38.6.

After an influential showjumping phase the overnight leader board had noticeably shuffled going into the cross country. Stefano Brecciaroli (ITA) moved up into second from fourth after jumping clear on Apollo van de Wendi Kurt Hoeve.  He starts the cross country on his dressage score of 42.6.  Britain’s Sarah Cohen moved from fifth to third after also jumping clear on Treason remaining on 43.2.  

Overnight third Sara Algotsson Ostholt (SWE) dropped to fourth after Reality 39 knocked a pole giving them four faults and a score of 45.0. Julia Krajewski (GER) and Chipmunk FRH had an uncharacteristic three poles down dropping them from second place to fifth on 48.2 penalty points.  

Cross country starts at 2.45pm (CET). Can Ingrid Klimke make history and become the first rider in the series to lead from start to finish of the competition?
